Unfortunately, nobody told Andy that Roger Moore was the hero of the James Bond movies - he was, in fact, James Bond - and so he hired R.J. Moore, son of Roger Moore, to star in Hard Hunted. And to further that goal, they hired R.J. This is the seventh sequel in the Sidaris' series of guns-and-hooters flicks that started with Malibu Express, meaning that they're actually approaching their stated goal of being a more successful series than James Bond. As the poster says, "Someone will not get out of this alive!" The husband-wife team that makes the world's greatest pictures about undercover federal-agent Playboy Playmates running around Hawaiian islands firing extremely large guns and discussing their assignments in the hot tub has just come out with the best one yet - Hard Hunted. This isn’t anything special and probably expected for any low budget film of this ilk.Andy and Arlene Sidaris are at it again. The action sequences were okay in terms of the depth. The movie comes equipped with a basic but effective enough DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which does output clear enough dialogue, however the lackluster on-set/location sound recording sometimes would be muffled but no fault of the transfer. The colors are also a bit inconsistent, sometimes looking well balanced while others, perhaps due to the location, appeared to be overly bright, even washed out at times. As with the other entries, this very likely looks better than when it was released on DVD, however this transfer was still littered in many scenes with dust marks, scratches and other film damage. Mill Creek Entertainment releases Hard Hunted onto Blu-ray, presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. As with the previous releases, this comes with an Introduction (1:21) by Andy Sidaris, an Audio Commentary with Writer-Director Sidaris, a Behind the Scenes (40:53) featurette and Trailers for all of Sidaris’ films, including Hard Hunted. This release comes with a Digital Copy from movieSpree. The other issue, the formula feels tired for this series, the highlight easily is Hard Ticket to Hawaii, the second installment. Sure, Hard Hunted is camp galore, which would be fine but unlike other comedies, like your Airplane or The Naked Gun, the humor just doesn’t quite work mostly because the actresses Sidaris hired are merely there to go topless and any males are pretty poor in their own rights. On the other hand, Rodrigo Obregón as Pico, with an eye-patch no less, had the right amount of cheese, sadly he’s not the main villain and is only in the film for a few wonderful minutes. Otherwise, the supporting cast are pretty bland and don’t share a whole of chemistry. Beyond that, most of this film is pretty dull and a sprinkling of good bad moments and funny action explosions.Īs with the previous installments, the acting is downright horrid made worse by terrible dialogue, though leads Dona Speir and, especially, Roberta Vasquez are very nice on the eyes, but they don’t really have a whole lot of screen presence, maybe an edge to Vasquez… until she speaks anyway. Hard Hunted follows the same formula with the group of hot agents try to foil some terroristic scheme by a generic evil bad guy, this time Kane once again, and in between inserts of topless ladies and awkwardly shot sex scenes that are less than even soft core. Quick Hit Review: This is I think is my sixth Andy Sidaris film that’s I’ve watched and… honestly it’s difficult to distinguish one from the others. But when she’s murdered, it’s up to secret agents Donna (DONA SPEIR), Nicole (ROBERTA VASQUEZ) and Edy (CYNTHIA BRIMHALL) to save the day. agent (CAROLINE LIU) goes undercover to steal it. Before the sale is final, however, a special U.S. MOORE) offers it to a violent Mideastern leader. Plot Synopsis: After smuggling a nuclear trigger from China, arms dealer Martin Kane (R.J. Mill Creek Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. Moore, Tony Peck, Cynthia Brimhall, Al Leongįeatures: Commentary, Featurette, Trailer – $19.98 | March 17, 2020Ĭast: Dona Speir, Roberta Vasquez, Bruce Penhall, R.J. Hard Hunted is pretty much in-line with the others in this series, especially the last couple, mostly that the cheesy and camp does not outweigh some of the duller moments that keeps it out of good-bad territory.
